Hi
Not yet tuned in as only found out about station thanks to Marty Harkins post on FB! (cheers Marty & good luck with the show)
Having lived on the island all my life & my family playing a big part in the community for so many years, but sadly moving away 14yrs ago, I am absolutely chuffed to bits that finally the locals are actively encourageing the community to get with the times and care about the future of the place!

It has saddened my in the past to visit and see the town & pubs deserted on a weekend, teenage kids having nowhere to go, adults only venturing out when there is a big event taking place (like the games) Growing up on Bute was the greatest fun ever for me (I'm sure my old school friends will agree) there was nearly always something to do no matter what day! Mon night swimming club, Tue girl guides/scouts, Wed indoor football, Thu occassional disco or young farmers, Fri girls brigade or roller skating, Sat skating or disco & Sun early night to get ready for school or in later yrs every weekend all the pubs, Harbour bar, Ashburn, Pavillion on Ritz would be packed!

I would love it if you could do a slot in the eve entitled "how we used to live" where people can phone, txt or email in to share funny stories about growing up there, try and get in touch with old friends and request tunes from past times?

Well done to whomever started the community radio station i wish you all the success with it and look forward to tuning in.

We get you loud and clear up here in Ardbeg and have been listening in alot. Like the broad range of music that you play.
Great to hear Angela Haggarty on the "Have your Say" programme - I had no idea she was part of the team! It's a good programme and I hope that more people will get involved and "have their say".
Keep up the good work!!

I think you have to a have a wider view of the role of radio, rather than just a medium for light entertainment .

The Specific issues that i have suggested will have an influence on the well being and lively hood of people within your community .

                                                                           kind regards

Bute FM An Agent for empowerment and Change

Dear Folks .
Well done in providing a really good community radio station for Bute . I visited Rothersy last week for a day and heard some of you shows when in different shops. I also heard a number of positive comments about you ouput .

Rothesy seems a really vibrant and positve community with a good number of small hotels and B&B which were really neat well manitained and most importanly of all fully booked .

Yet when i came off the ferry I was initially very disappointed with untidy buildings in need oif fresh paint and a number of retail units closed and boarded up .

I feel you radio station could play a critical role in organising and empowering the local community to improve these issues and make Rothesy and more pleasnt place to visit .

Looking at your schedules i see that you have a number of generic talk shows .

Could i suggest creating a slot with a title such as Beautiful Bute or Lets Revive Rothesy ( See Iam a succour for alliteration ) could be startin gpint in this process

Initially thsi would take the form of discussion and suggestions but then a phone in to select the best suggestion . Also ideas on how to fund these ideas .

A group could be st up that would be directly involved in projects and would give regualr feedback to your listeners on progress.

I think thsi could be a good model for empowering your community and making it an agent for change .

Please do what you will with these suggestions these suggestions but i feel there is a tremendous opporunity for BUTE FM and the people of Bute and Rothesy to make the isalnd an even more beautiful place to visit

Kind regards and hope you have thousands of tourists visiting Rothesay and Bute
