Robert McGowan
Brand New Breakfast host Robert McGowan gets your weekday off to a great start with a mish-mash of music, announcements and travel and weather information from 8am-10am.

Bobby Wilson
Each weekday lunch-time from 12pm you’re invited to sample the very best in pop history from the master craftsman himself, Bobby Wilson. Cheeky banter and unlikely links are the stock in trade of this jack of all trades.

Ed Clark
For four hours – between 10pm-2am, five days a week, Sunday-Thursday – tune-in to hear a compilation of Ed’s choice of his favorite American Old Time Radio Shows including Westerns, Detectives, Mysteries, Comics, Musicians, Suspense, Horror, and Radio Plays. News and Advertising from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s; America’s Golden Age of Radio.  Highlighting exactly the kind of different listening experience that you get on a good community radio station.

MONDAY

Graham Leonard
Every Monday between 2pm and 4pm, Graham whips out his bulging sack of CDs and gets cracking into the classic songs of the 80s. You’re bound to be surprised by how many you like!

Tommy Hunter
Every second Monday, between 4pm-6pm, Tommy takes a look at the less well-known album tracks by bands, of whom you’ll have heard their big hit singles, but know little of the rest of their back catalogue.

Fay Davidson
For guitar music with a bit of a punch just a little bit heavier than normal make sure to find Fay on-air each Monday between 6pm-8pm.

TUESDAY

Robin Chandler

Every Tuesday evening from 4pm-5pm, Robin will be bringing you some special taster shows with music from different genres and from years gone by. You’ll be surprised by how many you know!

Greig Aird
Greig brings you the latest chart hits with a twist. Some random tunes are thrown into the mix and you can’t help but enjoy it all. As of Monday 5th July from 10am-12pm every Monday-Thursday is when you’re most likely to hear Greig during the school holidays.

WEDNESDAY

Robert Maitland

Robert’s is the show to tune into if you’re into heavy rock and prog. From the late-60s to the early 80s, let this man take you by the hand and lead you to the promised land – 2pm-5pm every Wednesday.

Jack Monaghan (from 1st September)
Every Wednesday, between 4pm-5pm, Jack takes you on a musical journey from the modern day right back to the 70s with a wide-ranging selection of tunes belying his youth.

THURSDAY

Hillbilly Bob

Hillbilly Bob brings you a wide range of country music from all corners of the US and delivers them up to you for your delectation in the late afternoon between 3pm-5pm every Thursday.

Meghan Bagan
Between 5pm-6pm every Thursday evening is where you’ll find Meghan Bagan, bringing you her favourite songs from the modern era some of which we guarantee you’ve never heard before.

Chris Docherty
If you like your rock and metal and you like it LOUD then this is the show for you.  Find Chris on-air each Thursday between 6pm-8pm.

FRIDAY

Backchat on Bute FM
…is our weekly discussion programme in which we talk about the topics, both locally and nationally, that are of the most importance to our community. Contributions are always welcome, be it by phone, e-mail or website interaction, as it’s your opinions that count. Listen in every Friday between 2pm-4pm

Young Cameron
Friday afternoon between 4pm-5pm is where you’ll find Cameron doing his thing live on-air, with a selection of hits that might surprise you given his age. Also on the menu will be bits and pieces from Rothesay Academy’s own radio station, sourced by Cameron himself.

Clara Thomson
Friday afternoon between 5pm-6pm is where you’ll find Clara introducing a selection of up-to-date tunes and chat, as seen through the eyes of a young island resident.

Alan & Nick
The Friday Night Carry-out with Alan & Nick is the most controversial show on Bute FM. Tune in for competitions, contentious comments and outrageous banter each Friday between 6pm-8pm.

SATURDAY

Greig Aird and Jenni Speirs
Greig and Jenni bring you the latest chart hits with a twist. Some random tunes are thrown into the mix and you can’t help but enjoy their company from 10am-1pm each week.

Alan Donald
Also known as ‘The Entertainer’, Alan brings you a smorgasbord of smash hits from the annals of time, when he was a young man, right up to the recent day. “Some you’ll know, some you don’t, some you’ll like and some you won’t.” Tune in on Saturday from 1-3pm.  You’ll also find him in the Drivetime slot on a Monday from 5pm-6pm every alternate Monday.

SUNDAY

Ada Fisher
Rounding off our weekend broadcasting between 5pm-6pm on a Sunday is Ada Fisher who delights and entertains all in her own relaxing and peaceful way.

Music Policy

Bute FM broadcasts a diverse mix of music of all styles including: Golden Oldies, Pop, Rock, Dance, Blues, Celtic and many, many others.

Our regular specialist music shows are intended encourage contributions from people of all ages who want to share their musical interests with the community.

Additional programming will, in time, include the broadcasting of live music by, and interviews with, local artists in order to raise their profile. It is our intention that the service will provide more publicity for local events and activities, thereby increasing community participation.

Yearly there will be specialist programmes broadcast during Bute’s internationally renowned Jazz Festival and other such events, so as to allow people who may not be able to get out and about to enjoy and participate in these popular gatherings.
